# Function calling in Crew AI

Does Crew AI support function calling directly against the LLM ([https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/function-calling](https://platform.openai.com/docs/guides/function-calling)) or does it always use the Thought/Action/Observation prompt strategy?  
If function calling is supported I would greatly appreciate any advice how to activate
